The Old Testament Book of Job

The Book of Job deals with the suffering of a man God considered upright and blameless. We can learn from the perspective of the sufferer but also those who seek to console one who suffers. Most importantly, we glean more about the Great God we can trust because of who He is, not merely because He meets our expectations in trying times. Job’s suffering led him into a deeper understanding of God, one that took him beyond head knowledge to a more experiential, heart-impacted vision of Him. He said, “My ears had heard of you but now my eyes have seen you.” (Job 42:5)
