Providing a big picture look at the Bible’s Old Testament History and Law gives people a basic understanding upon which to later delve into each book in more detail.

Genesis

The first book of the Bible introduces us to our Creator God who made people to be in fellowship with Him. Though people sinned against Him, and had to suffer consequences, He still sought after a people who honored Him as their God.

Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, Deuteronomy

God gave His people, the Israelites, laws to guide them in putting Him first but they continued rebelling by turning to idols and following after the nations around Him.

Joshua, Judges, Ruth, 1 Samuel, 2 Samuel, 1 Kings, 2 Kings, 1 Chronicles, 2 Chronicles, Ezra, Nehemiah, Esther

They would suffer consequences but turn back to Him when He sent judges to deliver them. Once that judge died, they returned to their sinful ways. God wanted to be their King, but they desired an earthly king like the world around them. Some kings followed after God while others did not and led the people astray. Eventually God drove the people into exile.
