Genesis, the first book of the Bible, is about beginnings.
In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. (Gen. 1:1)
Along with the creation of the heavens and earth, we read of the beginning of human beings made in the image of God, of sin entering the world through the fall, of God’s covenant with Abram, of the nation of Israel. We also see in this book the promise of new beginnings. After the creation and fall of man, God promised a Redeemer would come and crush the serpent’s head. Satan (the serpent) would only be able to “strike his heel” through His death because Jesus would rise from the dead as Victor over sin, death, and the devil (Gen. 3:15). He would offer new life to those who put their trust in Him.
