We often think of prophets as those who told of future events — foretellers. Sometimes, however, God used them as forth-tellers. They spoke forth God’s warning to a rebellious and idolatrous people. Old Testament prophecy therefore consists of a combination predictions and pronouncements. Many of the foretold events have already been fulfilled, intended for the people of that day. Considered a Major Prophet, due to the book’s size, Isaiah prophesied during the reigns of Uzziah, Jotham, Ahaz, and Hezekiah.
